Radio 104.5 Birthday Show Day 2

The 104.5 Birthday Show is officially over and I have post concert depression, but I have to say day 2 was AMAZING! Unlike day 1, the weather was perfect. The day started out a bit hot, but extremely sunny, and the night ended beautifully cool and breezy. Absolutely no complaints weather wise.

I’m sad I missed Marian Hill and also super sad about Northern Faces, but I could’ve never survived a whole day out there when water bottles cost $7. Disappointing, but there’s no way.

The first performer I saw was Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and he was so much better live than I had expected. I think Andrew McMahon has such a soothing and pretty voice and he really is incredible live. I really enjoyed laying out in the sun and listening to him sing.

Next, was Kaleo. He’s got that whole soulful vibe going which is cool, but he’s not really my favorite. I would’ve much rather heard Marian Hill in all honestly. Her music is personally more my style. Still, he was another performer that was pleasant to listen to while lying out in the grass soaking up the sun.

Bleachers also weren’t necessarily my favorite to hear live even though overall they do produce some really awesome music. Maybe it’s because I was so far in the back and could’t really see anything that I wasn’t really into it that much. Still, it was kinda cool to hear “I Wanna Get Better” live.

Foster the People is when the show got really good. Foster the People was amazing! They opened with “Helena Beat” which was perfect, and closed with “Houdini”, which was even more perfect. I really liked hearing the classic, “Pumped Up Kicks” live, but my personal favorite performance they had was “Coming of Age.” I was a huge fan.

The reason I bought these tickets was to see my all time favorite band, the Killers. Let me tell you, it was a dream come true. It’s funny because throughout the whole concert, everyone was just sitting in the grass just listening to the music, but as soon as the closing act (the Killers) come on, everyone’s up, singing along, and extremely hype. The Killers were even better live than I had expected. Brandon Flowers stage presence is just unreal. Not to mention, the setlist is everything I could’ve hoped for. They opened with “Mr. Brightside”, which was expected but still incredible. They played one of my all time favorite songs which I did not expect, “For Reasons Unknown.” I literally freaked out when they started playing this I love this song so much, and I’m so beyond happy I got to see it performed live. They also played a new song called “Run for Cover” which I’m totally into. The only thing I’m slightly disappointed about is that they didn’t play “My List,” which they played the night before in Atlantic City. This just means I’m going to have to go to another concert and hope they play it. Overall, it was an amazing night and I’m still suffering from post concert depression four days later.

Body Journey

I have found setting goals for myself and posting them publicly really help increase my motivation to accomplish each goal. This goal may be the most challenging so far due to a combination of my busy schedule, and pure laziness, but I am determined to become stronger and healthier. While I want to build a better physique, my main focus is my health and to see how much of a difference changes in my diet and exercise can make. I have always been comfortable and satisfied with my body. I’m a very petite girl and I have come to accept it. This isn’t so much about image, it’s about health, and becoming the best ‘me’ possible. Life is a journey and every day I want to try to make myself a little bit better than I was yesterday. And this includes my health and fitness.

I have always been slightly underweight. I want to gain muscle and become stronger and leaner. I want to tone my body and improve the overall shape I am in.

I will begin this journey with a workout plan and a healthy meal plan. My goal is to work out 5 days a week. I started following a workout plan created by Jen Ferruggia called Bikini Body Workouts. I find this workout plan perfect for beginners like me. It is not too challenging, but just challenging enough to leave me sore the next day. I already feel a difference.

As for my diet, here is what I eat in a week:

CHEAT DAY!!

Of course my diet may not exactly follow this schedule and some things change day to day based on what I have in my house and what is available to me, but for the most part, these are the foods I keep in my diet. Not everything is perfectly healthy, but it’s a great combination for me of nutrition without ridding myself of all of my favorite things. Not to mention these recipes are simple and do not take an excessive amount of time for preparation.

I’m excited to work on myself and my body and to become the best me possible. I want to become healthy and strong and I am determined to stick to it.

May Favorites

May is over and summer has officially begun! I’m excited to discuss my favorites for this month with all of you because I’ve got a lot. Also, I linked all of the products if you are interested in checking any of these out!

Beauty

  1. Hawaiian Topic Dark Tanning Oil– okay, I know a lot of people flip when I say I like to use tanning oil, but I think tanning oil is great when used safely. At the start of summer, I love to use a bit of tanning oil on my body and soak in the sun for about an hour or two just to start my summer tan. This tanning oil is great because I darken so fast without burning and get that summer tan in no time without spending an excessive amount of time outside baking my skin. It’s perfect to use at the start of summer.
  2. Sephora Pearl Face Mask– this face mask is great for brightening the skin. I love using the Sephora face masks in general because they aren’t too expensive and are perfect for a little spa day. They make my skin feel much cleaner and fresh.
  3. Smith’s Rosebud Salve– I talked about this in my last favorites post and I will keep talking about it because it is 100% my holy grail of lip moisturizers. My lips get so dry and I swear this is the only product that helps. Not to mention one little jar lasts a lifetime.
  4. Mally Face Defender BB Cream Foundation– I’ve been loving this BB cream because it’s so light and perfect for summer. It also is great for my acne prone skin and doesn’t clog my pores. I currently wear the color medium light, but will probably go up a shade as I get tanner.
  5. Mally Poreless Perfecion Glowing Foundation– I use this product on top of my BB cream and together makes the perfect result. This powder alone is not quite enough coverage for me, but it really ratifies my face without looking cake-y. I find it to be the perfect powder for sealing in my foundation and eliminating an oily T-zone. I wear this in light.
  6. Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer (Tiki)– I use this bronzer in the shade Tiki and it works as the perfect highlight for summer. Since it’s actually a bronzer, the shade is perfect to highlight my summer glow. It’s dark to add a bit of color, but is so illuminating that it really brightens my face. It’s also great to use as a bronze eyeshadow. Overall, it’s a very versatile product that can be used on a wide range of complexions.
  7. IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Palette– This palette has been perfect for adding color to my face. Honestly, I haven’t really used the powder since I’m so obsessed with my one by Mally, but I love the bronzer and the blush. The bronzer is the perfect dark shade to contour and the blush is bright and natural looking and adds the perfect flush of color. The palette is a bit pricey, but worth it.

Fashion

  1. Tee Shirts– As boring as this sounds, I’ve been enjoying wearing just plain old oversized tee shirts lately. I really like to be comfortable, especially when it’s so hot and sweaty out. Still, I think big tee shirts are extremely cute paired with some cute sneakers and high waisted shorts. Cute, casual, and comfortable. (BTW I linked a cute one for you to check out!) IMG_2803.JPG
  2. Twist-Front Crop Top– This has been one of my favorite pieces to wear lately because it is such a cute little top, and so versatile! I wear it with jeans and sneakers, or I’ll pair it with some high waisted shorts and sandals. I also love to dress it up a little by pairing it with my corduroy skirt and a denim jacket. IMG_2895.JPG
  3. Bralettes Bralettes are the best for summer because they aren’t as restricting as a regular bra and go perfect under cutoff tanks and backless tops. I might be biased since I used to work there, but my favorite place to buy bralettes is definitely Aerie. IMG_2904.JPG
  4. Sneakers– I love wearing sneakers when it’s still a bit breezy out. I also find them way more comfortable for walking on the boardwalk than flip flops because there is no toe chafing! I particularly love my Adidas, Converse, and Vans even though they’ve all gotten super run down because I wear them so often!IMG_2907.JPG
  5. Open Cardigans and Tanks– Since it’s still a little chilly some days, I like to wear loose sweaters and cardigans on top of my tank tops. Layering is perfect when the weather is still constantly fluctuating.IMG_2733.JPG

Entertainment

  1. Big Little Lies– I just started watching this show so I’m not very far in, but I’m already hooked. Also, I want to note how awesome this cast is. I definitely recommend.
  2. 13 Reasons Why Who isn’t talking about this show?? I wanted to see what all of the hype was about so I decided to check it out. I’m definitely not as obsessed with the show as some people are and I do think the show has its flaws, but it’s still an intriguing show. Plus, Clay Jenson is the cutest creature to ever walk the earth.
  3. Invisible Monsters– I started reading this before and got sidetracked with school and never was able to finish, so i started again. I was obsessed with this book from the start. Chuck Palahniuk never disappoints.
  4. Empire of the Sun– I just discussed this band in my last post because I was lucky enough to see them live, but I decided they were worth mentioning again. Swordfish Hotkiss Night is the ultimate jam.
  5. The Killers– I’m so excited because I get to see one of my favorite bands perform in a few weeks!! I’m so excited that I’ve been nonstop blasting the Killers ever since I bought the tickets (aka like 3 months ago).
  6. Poshmark– One of my favorite apps, Postmark allows me to sell clothes I no longer wear and buy clothes from others for affordable prices. I use Postmark constantly and find it a great way to earn some extra spending money. Check out my closet!
  7. Duolingo– I really want to brush up on my Italian and this app lets me practice and overall is really effective. Not to mention, it’s free!
  8. MyFitnessPal– I’ve been really trying to eat healthier and this app is one I always go back to. I’m able to keep track of what I eat and check my calories. It also breaks down the nutrition so I can see how much protein, carbs, etc. that I’ve consumed. This app also allows you to set goals. For example, you’re goal might be to lose .5 pounds each week. The app tells you how many calories and such you should consume to achieve this goal.
  9. That Poppy– I’ve been really addicted to Poppy lately and I can’t tell if I like it or not. Her music is awesome no doubt, Lowlife is a great song for the summer. Her channel; however, is a bit strange, yet I can’t stop watching?? Her vids are definitely a bit odd and I wish she were to give a meaning for it all, but I’m definitely hooked and can’t stop watching.
  10. Sarah Baska– I discovered Sarah last summer and I’ve loved her ever since. I’ve been catching up on her videos lately now that classes are done for the summer and I can’t stop watching. She’s absolutely hilarious and her videos never fail to make me laugh.

Food

  1. DIY Trail Mix– Lately, I’ve been snacking on trail mix that I create myself with whatever I have in the house. I try to keep it as healthy as possible by mixing together some cashews, dried cranberries, dark chocolate, and pretzels. It makes the perfect snack to munch on.
  2. Bananas and Peanut Butter– Bananas and peanut butter are a perfect combination and a great snack. I love eating this if I want a quick snack before bed or sometimes even for breakfast. I also like making peanut butter and banana sandwiches for lunch because basically I’m obsessed with this combination. 10/10 would recommend.

Hope you all enjoyed your month of May and found something in this article worth checking out! Everything is linked!

6 Things I Miss About Being Home

Time spent away at college makes you appreciate the little things even more when you visit home. As fun and exciting as college is, there are some things I really miss. I love college, but every once in awhile I find myself feeling a little homesick and really missing these seven things.

1. My dog- Probably the thing I miss most about home is my favorite little companion, my pup. My dog is my best friend and the cutest little cuddle buddy. The first thing I ask when I call my mom is, “How’s Sadie doing?”

2. My mom- Although we argue most of the time, I truly miss my mom more than anyone. I miss our nightly talks at dinner and gossiping to her about the drama going on in my school and at her work. I miss being able to tell her about anything and everything going on in my life and seeing her face every day.

Andrea Mazzola

3. My own room- In college, you are almost never alone. Privacy becomes a true blessing when you have a roommate. Don’t get me wrong, having a roommate can be cool, but everyone still needs their private time. It’s the little things I miss, like being able to make a phone call without anyone overhearing, or being able to study in my bed. It’s easy to get distracted in an environment where you are constantly surrounded by people.

Andrea Mazzola

4. Home cooked meals- Dining hall food gets old really fast. Not only are you eating pretty unhealthy, but you’re also eating the same greasy pizza every day. College will make you appreciate your mother’s cooking so much more than you thought you ever would.

5. My car- Just as soon as you get your license, the privilege of driving is taken away from you. Being stranded on campus really sucks sometimes, and things like Uber can be kind of expensive. Word of advice: If you can, bring your car on campus.

Andrea Mazzola

6. Clean bathrooms- If only I could take a shower without wearing flip flops, and if only the the toilet seats didn’t have pee on them. It’s honestly just really hard to feel clean when your shower is infested with drain flies.

Andrea Mazzola

As awesome as college is, there are just some things I didn’t appreciate enough at home. Everyone gets a little homesick at times, but still, I wouldn’t trade my college experience for anything.

Easter 2017

This Easter was a very hard day for my family. If you keep up with my blog or my life in any way, you know I lost someone very special to me back in August. My step father passed away suddenly, and this year his 43rd birthday fell on Easter.

I’m not going to say I had an awful day full of tears. Yes, of course there were tears, of course it was an extremely unfair day and it made me think about how unfair and cruel this world is. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about this, and wish he were still here. But still, today was Easter and one of the few days of the year I am home with my family and friends, so I had to embrace  it.

I didn’t do much on Easter, although I really wish I could say I did. I don’t have any cute OOTD pictures or anything. I was dressed comfortably in a tank top and shorts with my glasses on and a pair of old flip flops.

I dyed eggs with my mom which was a lot of fun. I haven’t dyed eggs since I was a little girl so that was nice. I had my best friend come visit and we got to catch up for the first time in 5 months since we go to different schools. I spent some time with my dogs and brought them to the local dog park. All around, the day wasn’t anything exciting, but it was still a pretty good day.

Yes, it was an extremely sad day, but I am forever grateful I got to spend a few days back at home with some of my favorite people. I’m always happy to be back with my mom and pets and all of my childhood friends. The day was very relaxed and much needed.

I hope you all had a great Easter this year!

March Faves

March is coming to an end so I thought I’d do something I haven’t done in a long, long time- a monthly favorites post! If you guys like this post, I’ll start doing making monthly faves more often so please let me know what you think!

Here are my March faves! 🙂

Beauty:

I have three big things I want to discuss. The first is Smith’s Rosebud Salve. Inexpensive, moisturizing, and pretty much a staple for my lips. It’s still pretty cold around where I live, so everything is still very dry. My lips dry out so fast in the cold air, and I find this to be the best way to keep some moisture.

Another product I’ve been loving which I discussed in my self-tanner reviews is my Tanceuticals Self-Tanning Body Lotion. I love this because of the smell- not only does it not have that stinky self-tanner smell, but it actually smells good. Not to mention it is the perfect shade, as it’s dark, but not too dark to look fake. And it is probably the only self-tanner that doesn’t cause my acne prone skin to break out. If you’re into self-tanner, I highly recommend giving this a try.

tanceuticals-4.jpg

My last product is my Maybelline New York Eyestudio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner. I don’t believe in spending an excessive amount of money on eyeliner. For one thing, I could never afford it because I wear cat eyes almost daily and pens never seem to last that long. This eyeliner is inexpensive, and it’s very easy to create a sharp wing with the felt tip. It has been my Holy Grail of liquid liners.

Music

I have got to mention my latest song obsession because this song is going to be huge soon and I’m calling it now. The song is called There’s a Honey by Pale Waves and it is the catchiest, most relatable song ever and I am obsessed. I’m also seeing Pale Waves perform this summer and I cannot wait! Check out the song here! Fun fact: the song was produced by the 1975, and if you know anything about me, you know I’m obsessed with the 1975! I’ve seen them twice in concert, plus I’m seeing them again this summer. I guess it only makes sense for me to be obsessed with this song!

Others

I’ve been really into Instagram lately, not that I haven’t always enjoyed Instagram, but I feel myself becoming more and more addicted. If you’re interested, you can check out my Insta here along with other sites I’m obsessed with such as the Odyssey (my other blog), Bloglovin‘, and Poshmark.

But yeah, that pretty much sums up my monthly favorites! There aren’t too many things on my list for this month, but everything that did make the list has been my absolutely and utter obsession. If you liked this post, let me know and I’ll make another one for April! Hope you all enjoyed this post and hope you enjoy the rest of your spring! Thanks for reading!

xoxo Andrea

Favorite Childhood toys

Alright so I’m cleaning out my closet and attic in hopes for a yard sale, and I’ve encountered some of my old childhood toys, so I thought I’d share some with you guys. I was a toy hoarder. Basically when I’d find a style of toy I liked, I’d go all in and collect as many as I can. I went through many phases as a kid and I have so many toys to reminisce. Let me know if you collected any of these toys as a child either.

One of my first, and most basic, phases include my passion for stuffed animals. I loved stuffed animals. I mean to be quite honest, I still love stuffed animals. They’re just so cute and decorative and my heart warms any time someone gives me one as a gift. But my obsession when I was younger was real. I had stuffed animals all lined across little chairs in my room. I had bunk beds and the top bunk was literally full of stuffed animals. Like you couldn’t see the bed at all because there were so many of them. My two favorite stuffed animals I still have today. My one favorite was my first ever stuffed animal and it is a little blue and green rhino that I named.. wait for it.. Rhino. Wow, I was so creative! In my defense I don’t even remember naming it, and I got the stuffed animal literally as soon as I came out of the womb so. Whatever. My dog chewed off his ear once and I was really devastated, but my grandmother sewed it back on so no worries. Rhino’s been through a lot but he’s survived. My other favorite stuffed animal is a stuffed bunny named Beatrice. This bunny was my great grandmother’s and when she passed away I was given the stuffed bunny. I wasn’t close to my great grandmother or anything, but I really cherished the bunny when it was given to me. Not to mention it’s the cutest little bunny ever!!

Another intense obsession I went through was Bratz dolls. Yes, I had a ton of Barbies too and I dabbled a bit with My Scene, but Bratz were my thing. Not gonna lie, they totally freaked me out at first with their big heads and attachable feet, but they grew on me. I liked that there were multiple characters and they all looked really different. And I liked their clothes because it was very risqué and my six year old self was totally into that.

bratz_x-press_it_dolls

Another phase I went through was the Littlest Pet Shop phase and I still have a box of them underneath of my bed. I even had the Littlest Pet Shop Nintendo DS game because they are just so cute. OMG how I loved these things. My collection grew HUGE! It got to the point where I had so many that I had a list of all of their names because I couldn’t remember. And then I got so overwhelmed by having so many and not knowing which ones to play with that I just stopped playing with them all together and moved on to the next toy. What a rough life for a nine year old. Being too overwhelmed by how many Littlest Pet Shop Toys you have. I really had over 100, plus several different play houses.

lps-lpsrocker-club-23993602-1632-1088

OMG speaking of play houses, I totally forgot about Sweet Streets. Like I seriously forgot that was a thing. Probably because that obsession happened when I was super young and then they kind of went extinct. Sweet Streets had to be one of the coolest toys though because they all came with their own little houses. That’s such a great toy invention! I used to set up all the houses outside and create my own little Sweet Streets neighborhood. There would be homes, a hotel, a dog salon, a ballet studio. Honestly shout out to whoever made Sweet Streets because they were one of the best toys to ever exist.

s-l300

I also went through a very brief Pixel Chix phase. If you don’t know what a Pixel Chix is.. then I don’t know what to tell you because it’s pretty self explanatory. It’s basically a pixel girl living in a house. It’s so cool it’s like having a virtual friend. Until you don’t play for three days and your Pixel Chix gets mad at you and moves out and a new one moves in. That really personally offended me was I was a child.

hqdefault-1

Another phase was a common one for children, and it was the Webkinz phase. These little stuffed animals cost $12 because they were so popular, and now they’re so irrelevant you can buy them for $1. Webkinz were the hottest toy to have when I was in the 4th grade. I had a bunch and I loved playing online and decorating their homes and interacting with other Webkinz users. I believe Webkinz is what started my internet addiction, and I regret nothing. Except for maybe buying 20 of them.

Webkinz-Collectors-Feat

The last toy obsession I had would be Build-a-Bears. Yes, Build-a-Bears and Webkinz fall into the stuffed animal category, but these are so much more specific and different. Webkinz are different because they have a code to register online and interact with other users. Build-a-Bears are different only because they are stuffed animals you make yourself. Making the stuffed animal myself made me feel so much closer and more bonded to it, even though it’s an inanimate object. I loved stuffing it and putting its little heart in and picking out a sound and outfit, and then making its birth certificate. My fifth birthday party was at a Build-a-Bear because yes, apparently they also do birthday parties, and I was given a Build-a-Bear pillow for all my friends to sign and I still have that pillow sitting on my bed today. After that birthday party, my grandmother took me to get a Build-a-Bear for my birthday each year up until I hit about ten or eleven. I think Build-a-Bear is such a cute idea for children and unfortunately, the one near me closed so I cannot go to one anytime soon, but it’s a place I would still go to because the stuffed animals really are so adorable. I’ll always love you, Build-a-Bear.

build-a-bear

This was really enjoyable to look back on all the toys I loved as a child and reminiscing through all of my phases. I’m sure I’ve forgotten many toys I went through obsessions with so I definitely hope to make a part two of this in the future. If you enjoyed this and had any of these toys as a child, please let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!
