September Faves

I’m so excited that October is here because it might just be my favorite month in the year. Sweater weather and halloween makes for a perfect combination. September was a pretty exciting month because I started a new school year and all of my new classes. The year has been a bit stressful so far, but I’m hoping the next eight months lighten up a bit.

Here are my September faves!

Beauty:

Tarte Tape Shape Concealer– One of my new favorite concealers has got to be the Tape Shape. It’s full coverage, but also so easy to apply without any mess.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector– I’ve recently been really into color correcting and this one has to be my favorite. It is perfect to add before my concealer because it brightens up the under eye so much.

Ben Nye Pink Powder– I love using the pink powder to bake under my eyes. It makes my under eyes feel so smooth and it keeps my concealer in place all day!

NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Palette– This has been my go to palette for contouring. There is a variety of bronze shades plus a banana powder that is perfect for setting the under eyes!

Fashion

Body suits and high waisted shorts– Now that I’m back in college, I’ve been going out a lot more. The weather was still pretty hot this month so my go-to going out look had to be a body suit tucked into high waisted shorts.

Sandals– Cute and comfortable sandals are perfect for warm weather and look cute with any outfit.

Chunky rings– I love accessorizing with chunky rings. I think it honestly takes a simple everyday look into something a bit edgier.

Entertainment

The Naked and the Famous– I’ve been loving listening to Naked and the Famous while I’m at the gym. The songs are just so upbeat and fun and get me in such a good mood!

GroupMe– GroupMe is a must have app for college students. It’s the perfect app for group chats in case anyone doesn’t have an iPhone. I honestly probably use GroupMe more than I actually text.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle– I just recently saw Kingsman and I loved it! I was obsessed with the first one so of course I had to see the second. Eggsy is just so stinkin’ cute. The only thing is he belonged with Roxy! Did anyone else feel like this too? I don’t want to post any spoilers, but let me know if you’d like me to leave a review ūüôā

Food

Mixed berries– I’ve been eating mixed berries every morning as a little side breakfast dish to make sure I am getting my daily intake of fruit. I’ve been loving mixing raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries!

Breakfast sandwiches– I love breakfast sandwiches. I toast a bagel every morning, usually either an everything bagel or a poppyseed bagel, and I add a scrambled egg and bacon and a little bit of cream cheese. It’s my fave.

Body Journey

I have found setting goals for myself and posting them publicly really help increase my motivation to accomplish each goal. This goal may be the most challenging so far due to a combination of my busy schedule, and pure laziness, but I am determined to become stronger and healthier. While I want to build a better physique, my main focus is my health and to see how much of a difference changes in my diet and exercise can make. I have always been comfortable and satisfied with my body. I’m a very petite girl and I have come to accept it. This isn’t so much about image, it’s about health, and becoming the best ‘me’ possible. Life is a journey and every day I want to try to make myself a little bit better than I was yesterday. And this includes my health and fitness.

I have always been slightly underweight. I want to gain muscle and become stronger and leaner. I want to tone my body and improve the overall shape I am in.

I will begin this journey with a workout plan and a healthy meal plan. My goal is to work out 5 days a week. I started following a workout plan created by Jen Ferruggia called Bikini Body Workouts. I find this workout plan perfect for beginners like me. It is not too challenging, but just challenging enough to leave me sore the next day. I already feel a difference.

As for my diet, here is what I eat in a week:

Sunday:

Breakfast- Nut butter on toast

Lunch-Chicken salad sandwich (swap the mayo for avocado!)

Dinner– Chicken breast and veggies

Snacks– Veggies and hummus; pumpkin seeds and cashews

Dessert–¬†Ice pops made of fruit juice

Lunch– Salad with mixed greens, berries, nuts, chicken breast, and a balsamic dressing

Lunch– Chicken salad wrap with lettuce and dried cranberries

Lunch– Turkey and avocado sandwich on rye bread

Dinner– Spaghetti with pesto and spinach

CHEAT DAY!!

Of course my diet may not exactly follow this schedule and some things change day to day based on what I have in my house and what is available to me, but for the most part, these are the foods I keep in my diet. Not everything is perfectly healthy, but it’s a great combination for me of nutrition without ridding myself of all of my favorite things. Not to mention these recipes are simple and do not take an excessive amount of time for preparation.

I’m excited to work on myself and my body and to become the best me possible. I want to become healthy and strong and I am determined to stick to it.

31 days of self love

Loving yourself is important, and sometimes a lot us struggle with. Happiness stems from acceptance and love for ourselves. We cannot depend on others to make us happy, and we cannot force others to love us. However, we can love and take care of ourselves and our own well being. I challenge and encourage you to complete these 31 days of self-love, and to hopefully take a step further to love and acceptance.

Day 1: Write out your feelings. Write about what makes you happy and unhappy. Write about what you love about yourself. Write about something you need to let go. Let it all off your chest.

Day 2: Post a picture that makes you feel pretty.

Day 3: Wear your favorite outfit.

Day 4: Cook yourself a big, healthy breakfast full of your favorite fruits.

Day 5: Take a long bath with lavender oil.

Day 6: Watch a movie that makes you laugh.

Day 7: Put on a face mask and paint your nails. Pamper yourself a little.

Day 8: Stretch. Do some sun salutations in the sunlight.

Day 9: Forgive yourself for a mistake that you mad.

Day 10: Talk to someone who makes you smile.

Day 11:¬†Belt out your favorite song as loud as you can no matter who’s listening

Day 12: Write down all of your dreams and aspirations and set goals toward achieving them

Day 13:¬†Pick up a book you’ve always wanted to read

Day 14: Organize your closet, strip your bedsheets, clean every corner of your room till it is sparkling.

Day 15: Go to bed an hour earlier than normal

Day 16: Wake up early and watch the sunrise

Day 17: Try a new food

Day 18:¬†Call up an old friend you haven’t talked to in awhile

Day 19: Do something you enjoy

Day 20: Make a conscious effort to be more positive

Day 21: Stare in the mirror and list 5 things you love about yourself today

Day 22: Spend the day outside. Go for a walk. Sit in the sun. Enjoy the beauty around you.

Day 23: Listen to new music

Day 24:¬†Dye your hair the color you’d like

Day 25: Buy yourself flowers and watch them bloom

Day 26: Realize that you should be doing things for yourself and not for others.

Day 27: Lie in the sunshine and daydream about life.

Day 28: Buy yourself a new dress and go out with your best friends.

Day 29: Fill in a coloring book.

Day 30:¬†Bake cookies. It’s okay to treat yourself every once in awhile.

5 Beauty Tips I Live By

Happy Saturday!

Today I wanted to write about 5 beauty tips I swear by. These 5 tips are simple and essential and hopefully something all of you are all doing already. Skin care is super important no matter what age you are and it’s important to take good care of your skin and body. Here are 5 important tips!

  1. ¬†I begin every morning by chugging a bottle of water. We all know water is vital to our routine and has loads of benefits on our skin, our health, our energy level, on our body, and pretty much everything. It’s so important to stay hydrated and to drink lots of water because it could have crucial effects on our skin and could even clear up acne. Dehydration can cause dry skin and wrinkles. Staying hydrated will make your skin brighter and your hair shinier. Start each day by chugging a cup of water and make sure to drink 8 cups throughout the day!
  2. I make sure to clean my makeup brushes weekly. Cleaning your makeup brushes is extremely important but something many of us neglect to do. It’s important to clean your brushes of all that bacteria that can clog your pores. I wash my brushes by first, running each brush under water to dampen them. Next, I rub each brush on a bar of ivory soap making sure to get in between the bristles. Then I rinse thoroughly.
  3. I use eye cream twice a day. Now for most, using an eye cream twice a day isn’t necessary. Instead an eye cream used once at night before bed is just enough. I have always suffered from dark circles and puffiness, so I use First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy in the morning before applying my concealer. This eye cream is great because it’s light¬†and a nice tan shade that works almost as a light concealer. The best part about this eye cream is its metal applicator used to blend the eye cream. The coldness of the metal is great for de-puffing ¬†and brightening underneath the eye. At night, I use either Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream, or I’ll dab a little bit of Aquaphor underneath my eyes because I find it very hydrating. This Origins eye cream is intended for morning use, but I personally prefer it at night because I don’t think it sits well under makeup. I’ve been using this eye cream for a few years now and I definitely think it’s time for a change. If you have any eye cream recommendations that help with dark circles, please leave a comment below!
  4. Moisturize- Use a high quality moisturizer and use it on your face each morning and night. Most of us are already in the habit of moisturizing our face, but what about our body? It’s equally important to keep our bodies hydrated and well moisturized so make sure to moisturize your body each day. Currently, I use CeraVe facial moisturizers AM and PM for my face. This moisturizer is great for acne prone skin and was recommended by my dermatologist. I’ve been using it ever since. For my body, I switch up lotions a lot but am currently using Burt’s Bees.
  5. Use a face mask once a week. It’s important to exfoliate and I find the best way to do this is with a mask each week. A mask hydrates your face and rids your skin of all of the dead skin cells. I use Freeman Feeling Beautiful Clay Mask with Avocado & Oatmeal twice a week on my face.

These 5 beauty tips have become a part of my daily life and are very important in my beauty routine. This is how I keep my skin soft and clear and beauty tips I find work wonders for me, and I believe could help you too. Hope you liked this!
