Always Remember to Be Grateful

Sometimes thing happen, and we don’t know exactly why they happen. These things could be amazing, like falling in love, while others could be heartbreaking, like a death of a loved one. These things can be so sudden and so unexpected that we, as only humans, don’t know how to react. We might be feeling so much that we don’t know exactly the words to say. Sometimes there are no words to say what is happening or how we feel. Sometimes it is the silence that speaks for us.

Today I want you to think of those things in your life you don’t understand and those feelings you have that you can’t explain. And even if things in your life are so terrible right now that the only word you can muster up is “misery” I want you to find gratitude. Even in the roughest of times there is always something for us to be thankful for, and that includes life’s journey. Each gain and each loss is filled with something more meaningful. Maybe a lesson to make us wiser, or maybe an ache to make us stronger. And although right now you don’t understand and you might be questioning everything, the best thing you can do is trust the path your on and that a deeper meaning will appear and that maybe, just maybe, one day you will understand why all of this is happening and you will finally find the words to speak. But until that day comes, all I ask of you is to be grateful.

Tell someone who has impacted your life that you are grateful. Tell the parents who raised you how grateful you are for their impact on who you are and who you will become. Be grateful for that boy who broke your heart for teaching you that you deserve more. Even be grateful for that blooming tree in your neighborhood that makes you feel at peace. Be grateful for even the little things because it is all a part of this journey you are on.

Trust the path you’re on. Trust the process of life. Things might not make sense now, but it is because you have yet to understand. There is a deeper meaning behind all of this, and the only way to find this meaning is with trust and gratitude. Life is all about change and adapting. Sometimes, change happens unexpectedly and that is simply a part of life. Give thanks to everything you have while you have it, and trust that life will guide you to an even brighter future.

Next time you’re feeling down and hopeless, take a step back and really evaluate your life. There really is too much to be grateful for.

OOTD

Happy Saturday! (sorry I’m late for this blog post!!)

img_1219

OOTD’s are fun. They’re something I wish I could post more often, but none of my friends ever wanna take my pictures and I’m not too good with a tripod. Still, there are so many pretty places on campus I’d love to shoot. Maybe in time my tripod skills will improve and I won’t be so intimidated by passerby’s watching me have my own photoshoot, and I’ll stop taking pictures in front of this blue wall! (sorry for that lone sandal in the background, I’m a mess)

Anyways, this top I’m wearing is from Kohls and the skirt is from Rue 21. These boots are from DSW! The bracelet is from Helberg Diamonds.

I’m currently home for Thanksgiving which is nice! It’s good to be home, especially with all that’s been going on in my life. It’s great to be back with my mom. School has been very stressful. I have a lot on my plate this semester. I was recently elected House Manager for my sorority which is awesome! However, it’s also a huge commitment and a lot of responsibility, so hopefully I do a good job.

I’ve been working super hard hoping I could graduate a year early. I’ve been applying for tons of internships for the summer and have a few interviews scheduled, so wish me luck!

Currently on break, I am working at American Eagle (still) and this year I worked my first Black Friday! I have to say, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. It was just such a long day and it sucks my entire day was spent folding clothes and all I’m going to get paid is like $70. I honestly can’t wait to get a job making real money in my field of choice! Hopefully school and all this hard work pays off!

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving?? Did you eat lots of food? I definitely did, and lots of pumpkin pie (aka my fave).

I hope you all had a great holiday and scored some awesome Black Friday deals! Thanks for reading! xoxo

Thanksgiving Lookbook

I don’t know about you, but I’m especially excited for the holiday season this year. The holidays mean food, friends, and family.. and an excuse to dress up in your cutest outfits!

But what happens when Thanksgiving is only a few days away and you still have no idea what to wear? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Below are outfits for celebrating Thanksgiving in three different ways: with family, friends, or with your significant other!

Outfit 1: Family

For a standard family gathering, I would opt for an outfit that’s casual, but still put together. A sweater dress with a pair of leggings and comfortable boots are a perfectly cozy combination. The striped sweater dress above was bought at Garage and the boots and leggings were bought at Target, but can be found at almost any clothing store.

Outfit 2: Friends

Jeans and a pretty top are perfect for a Friendsgiving. Jeans are casual and comfortable, but a flowy top and matching boots add a dressier feel. Here, I am wearing jeans from Hollister with a top I bought from Kohls and boots from Forever 21.

Outfit 3: Significant Other

A Thanksgiving with your significant other could be nerve-wracking, and you definitely want to be at your best. For a more formal Thanksgiving look, pair an elegant dress with comfortable flats or heels. Since it’s pretty chilly outside, make sure to add a sweater to keep yourself warm. I bought this polka dot dress from Charlotte Russe. The red flats add a nice contrasting color. These ballet flats were bought at Forever 21, but can be found almost anywhere. The cream cardigan can be found at Garage.

I hope this helped you decide on your Thanksgiving fashion dilemmas. Eat lots of turkey, spend time with family, and most importantly, have a happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving

Hello everyone! How was everyone’s Thanksgiving? I hope it was wonderful! I know mine was! I ate TONS of food. My dinner included mashed potatoes, baked ziti, spinach, corn, and of course turkey! And for dessert I had some pumpkin pie with whipped cream and pumpkin pie ice cream on the side. I’m still full!

We celebrated with my step-dad’s family who I absolutely love. His sisters have a bunch of young kids that keep me company. They’re adorable!!

I wore this beige sweater from Forever 21 paired with green jeans I bought at PacSun for $10!!! My moccasins are from Payless and I accessorized with a long, gold necklace from 5-7-9!

What I’m Thankful For

In honor of Thanksgiving on Thursday, I think it’s about time for me to write the generic “What I’m Thankful For” blog post. So what exactly is it I’m thankful for? I could write the things you know I’m thankful for like my family, friends, pets, etc. Or I can be more specific, and include the shallow things I can’t live without. I think I’ll be more specific.

1. Skinny jeans
IMG_0990

I’m thankful for skinny jeans being in and flared jeans being out.

2. Wi-Fi

This kind of goes hand-in-hand with Netflix. Without Wi-Fi, there would be no Netflix. Can you imagine a world with no Netflix? I can’t.

3. Forever 21

IMG_1240Forever 21 is basically the only store I shop at because it is the only store I can afford that provides clothes that are actually in style. Without Forever 21, I honestly have no idea where I’d shop. So thank you Forever 21 for your $1 camisoles and $11 sweaters. I’m truly grateful.

4. ShamelessSeason-3-Promotional-Poster-shameless-us-32713318-800-960

One of my all time favorite shows on television. Shameless never fails to make me smile.

5. Tumblr

IMG_1233

By far my favorite form of procrastination (besides sleeping) is scrolling on Tumblr. I can honestly do it for hours. Although wasting so much time on Tumblr may screw me over later on, I’m still thankful for this beautiful form of social networking.

7. Leonardo DiCaprio

My appreciation and love for Leo mustn’t go unheard. This gorgeous and talented man has helped create some of the best movies of all time. No one could portray the role of Jack Dawson quite like he could. He has starred in so many amazing movies like The Departed, Aviator, Wolf of Wall Street, and so many more. These movies wouldn’t be nearly as incredible without him. Don’t worry Leo, you’ll get your Oscar one day.

(not to mention he makes great eye candy)

8. Books

IMG_1241

I wanted to name a specific book or author but I really just can’t. There are too many great books and authors to choose from, and I am thankful for the variety.

9. Yoga

037 (4)

Yoga incorporates exercise and meditation. My all time favorite way to get in touch with my inner zen.

10. TeaIMG_1244

I’m enjoying a nice cup of green tea as I write this. I genuinely believe a hot cup of tea and honey is a life saver. I can’t start my day without some!

11. My momIMG_7867

I had to include my mom because I am eternally grateful for her. Without her, I would have absolutely nothing. She has provided me with everything despite the many struggles our family has faced throughout the years. Shoutout to you, mom!
